FAQs
What is Aesop?
Aesop is a fully automated absence management system. The system can be accessed through the telephone at 1-800-942-3767 or through the Internet at http://www.frontlinek12.com/aesop; it uses a variety of methods to fill employee absences with a substitute. The system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to review substitute jobs.
What is my login information?
Your ID is your phone number and PIN number is set by you upon first login. You were provided this information when you signed up to be a substitute at School District 145. Please contact the central office if you are having issues accessing the Aesop system by calling 402-786-2321.
When will jobs be available to me?
Jobs are available up to 365 days in advance online or 30 days in advance via the automated phone system. Your visibility to jobs depends on several different factors including preferences you've set on when you can sub and where you are willing to sub. It also factors in your skills, experiences and teacher preferences for substitutes.
When does the system call to offer me jobs?
Aesop will call substitutes between the hours of 5:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Morning call times will only offer jobs that still need filled that day as the system is simply trying to fill open jobs for the day during the morning call times. Evening call times will offer any jobs available to you. Once a person accepts and confirms a job, it is no longer available for other substitutes to take.
Can I change the times Aesop calls me?
Yes, by logging into your online account you can limit the hours Aesop calls you. For example, if you do not want to be called before 6:30 a.m. you can eliminate receiving calls from the normal calling time of 5:30 a.m. - 6:30 a.m. Limiting the times Aesop calls you could impede your ability to be offered jobs. Limiting your availability to accept calls from our district/Aesop will be considered a declaration of not accepting work and may be considered a non-work day for the purposes of employment verification.
How do I become a substitute teacher at District 145?
We are always accepting qualified substitute teachers to serve our teachers and students. To become a substitute, you must have a valid certificate from the Nebraska Department of Education that qualifies you for substitute teaching. Information on certification can be found on NDE's website at http://www.education.ne.gov/tcert. Once you are certified, contact our central office at 402-786-2321 to be added to our substitute list and the Aesop system. We will send you some paperwork to fill out and request contact information (email address and phone number) to put on file.
How does the system notify me of a change in a jobs status?
If a job is modified or is cancelled, you will receive an automated email and phone call as a notice of this change.
What do I do when reporting for a job?
Make sure to check in with the office. The office staff will help direct you to the right room and provide items you may need for your job that day. You will also be asked to sign in when you arrive for the job.
What time should I report for a job?
Our daily schedule is below which shows start and end times for each building. Generally we ask that substitute teachers arrive in enough time to be able to prepare for the day (check in with the office, find the classroom, review notes/lesson plans, etc.). The time needed for these items may vary by substitute and job, in general a good rule of thumb would be to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the school day.
If a job is not a full day job, look at the job detials (or listen for them on the automated phone call) for the report time.
